Most of us are not very good at saying “Thank You”, are we?  We are like the little boy who had just returned from a birthday party.  His mother said, “Bobby, did you thank the lady for the party?”  “Well, I was going to, but the girl ahead of me, said thank you, and the lady told her not to mention it.  So I didn’t.”

Well, I can’t help but mention how thankful I am for my church family.  Thank you for supporting me and all the church staff throughout this last year.  You bless us weekly, with your prayers, friendship and provision for our families.  I don’t know of another group of people, willing to show their love with such grace and generosity, as you.

And of course I am thankful to God, for his blessing in 2018.  He continues to sustain us as a congregation and uses us in His glorious kingdom work.  It thrills my soul, to see that we are consistently working together for God’s glory.  Yes, we are a mixed group of folks, from different background and persuasions, yet God still draws our hearts together, as a church family, and equips us for the tasks he puts before us.

Let us look forward with anticipation, as we approach a New Year, in Christ’s service.

2019 will bring challenges and opportunities, that will require much prayer and surrender to God’s will for FBC.  I don’t know what lies ahead, but we can be sure that God has some great things in store for His church.

I thank Him in advance for the victories that will be won, the strength He will give, and the joy, which will be ours, as we serve together, in His great work!

WOMEN’S Ministry Corner

Jesse Tree Advent Project

The Christmas season is fast approaching; the Women’s Ministry will celebrate the season of Advent and the coming of Jesus at Christmas with a Jesse Tree.

The Jesse Tree project takes place December 1 through 25. It’s similar to an advent calendar, but it’s more about tracing the history of the coming of Jesus.

The tree gets its name from Jesse, the father of David. The first day’s scripture is Isaiah 11:1-2 – “A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord.” This branch came in the form of a babe, and through the scriptures for each ornament, you can see God weaving the stories into place to ready the world for the coming Messiah.

To prepare for this project we will need an assortment of 25 ornaments to represent the history of the coming of Jesus. These ornaments maybe homemade or bought. We would like for all church members to have a part in this project. On Tuesday, October 16 at 6:00 pm there will be a planning meeting and for everyone to select their ornaments and to receive more information about the project.

Please contact Cathy Farquhar for more information.

 Special Thank you………

To our church family,

We want to say a special thank you for all the cards, phone calls and especially the prayers from all of you. We love our church family!

Rick & Billie Hendricks

Thank you Collinsville believers for your kindness during Glen’s surgery and recovery; and my recovery time. The calls Glen got from men is so encouraging and the women’ calls telling us that ‘they care’, and covering us in prayer. We love our church family.
